RE: Urban Flyer

I must admit I haven't been keeping up with posts and scanning
through only a few.

Hunter has been freeflying for about a month now. For those who are
new....Hunter is a Nanday Conure that is about 4 1/2 months old.
We are in an urban area but on the edge of many acres of
wetlands/forest. We have Red Tail and Sharp Shinned hawks. The two
times Hunter has stayed up in a tree somewhere was a few weeks back
and yesterday. I did see hawks and vultures the first time.
Yesterday I can only speculate that Hunter saw something flying up
high.....airplanes equal HAWK in Hunter's mind. LOL Yesterday
finally about 15 minutes before the sun went down I took my husbands
car and dropped the top down and went calling for Hunter (this after
calling for about an hour at the house). Hunter called out flew over
head and back to land on my head. I think of all the dangers of
freeflying at this point....human predation is my highest concern.
Hunter obviously gets set in a tree and stays quiet when hawks are in
the area. <---even for an hour.

I was concerned about flying Hunter in an urban/suburban setting
initially. All my neighbors know me and so do all the kids. They
enjoy playing with all my pets and were calling for Hunter along with
me. Hopefully Hunter will not go to far out of the area and will
return without being captured by some well meaning person.
