RE: [Freeflight] AggressionDot to Anne

Hi Dot!

Yes, the raptor was just an example:

I think there are many other dangers, like the birds going to strangers,
them losing their way, inclement weather, Landing in a treet and getting hit
by a car, etc.

I woul dreally like to know how many birds ont he list freeflying have been
lost, and what percentage there were compared to birds that have been
freeflown and were fine.

Ann.

About dangers.
For me it is not raptor capture. Very rarely are there larger hawks than
greys in Essex.
A real and already happened danger is that tame parrots like mine fly
down to strangers.

Mine have done it six times.
These strangers were honest and contacted me or the vets. One lady put
Casper in a box; he was not pleased.

Another man walked around his garden with Casper on his shoulder until
a neighbour told him 'that's someone's parrot. Take it inside and ring
the vet.'

There was some months ago discussion on the list how to train birds NOT
to fly to strangers.
I never managed the technique.

Good luck

Dot
