Dot, I'm not trying to be argumentative or critical, but I do wonder why, if 
there is so much logic in starting out with lightly clipped wings, "nature" 
doesn't teach a young bird to fly by only giving him short "flight" 
feathers or some short flight feathers. I guess we egocentric humans 
can improve on anything.
