Re: Governent Responses to Avian Flu

My understanding is that they will do as what was stated and kill as=20
many of the birds in the community as they can, unless they are kept=20
indoors. We must really be careful in mixing our birds during=20
social events due to these threats. Does anyone have a link for the=20
statement by Pres. Bush?=20=20

As far as truly doing what he decrees, I would totally believe they=20
would destroy all of the lakes for the migratory birds. Don't=20
forget, no only would they be effected, so would an entire ecology=20
if they do such a thing. I would hope that agencies like the Nature=20
Conservancy or some kind of International Conservation project would=20
work to protect these lakes from such actions. We would really need=20
to support them in that fight. Even with a fight, if the king has=20
money, it will be done no questions asked, I totally agree there.=20=20

I also agree with Joe in that we need to stop generating fear and=20
figure out the exact causes of this disease. Figure out all of the=20
details and spread that word stronger than the word of everything=20
spreading to everybody and everybody dying from birds as what is=20
being projected the most right now.=20=20

It's interesting to note that malaria kills 2 million or more people=20
a year. Just because it's not in the US or UK, it's not a problem?

Education, cleanliness, closed flock and quarantine will be key to=20
help this problem go away until enough vaccine or a true vaccine is=20
found to protect from the potential threat.=20=20
