Nutmeg is an hallucinogenic!  It is actually illegal in Saudi Arabia
for that very reason.  (I used to smuggle in my supplies.)  I
wouldn't feed it to my birds except in small quantity in baked goods.

Lots of herbs have quite a lot of pharmaceutical punch to them.
