The comparison is owls with raptors, not owls with parrots.

There is a very basic division here between people who act based on existing
evidence -- however unreliable it may be -- and people who act based on
doctrine. The people in the latter camp don't pay attention to evidence
because they are True Believers in their doctrine, which is basically that
since all animals thus far tested respond to OC, there are no significant
differences between them. These people often encourage newbies to fly any
species of bird, even though they have no experience doing so themselves.

It's your dead bird and your lifelong grief, not theirs.

If there are virtually no solo budgie flyers, only the foolhardy newbie would
venture down that path. Let the pros break new trails into the
unknown. Meanwhile, buy a young 'too or macaw and follow the well-traveled
path that has led to success for most of the people who have followed it.

This is not a difficult decision for people who are not blinded by their
agenda to insist -- evidence be damned -- that species cannot possibly be
relevant to suitability for FF.
