Here we have difference in opinion. I've had the impression both my Greys
did have problems to manage the speed when diving down. I've seen them
change focus on the bottom of their flight path from me to some strange
straight forward look.

Bo, on his first time outside, really had problems to bleed speed. He did
master it by braking mid-air almost to a stop, diving down again, braking,
diving. Not elegant at all. But he managed to get down.

Galahs (and Macaws) do have a major difference with Greys: wing size
compared to weight.

So maybe it could be a combination of both, where I see one end of the
scale, and you the other end.

But is this difference of opinion important? I would guess not. We both
see similar behavior, and I feel the cause isn't really important. It could
be even a combination.

It is amazing how similar both our stories are. Patience and getting the
bird comfortable are the key to recovery.
